Jeff Getz
Assistant Coach

Jeff Getz, who a season as an assistant coach at Miami (Ohio) after six years on the coaching staff at Evansville, begins his first season as assistant coach for the Butler volleyball team in the 2009 season.

A native of St. Louis, Getz's primary responsibilities will be recruiting and defensive systems training.

"I am excited to have Jeff join the Bulldog family," Clark said. "He exemplifies the Butler Way. He was a very passionate player in college and continues to be a tremendous competitor. His extensive training will certainly be a great asset to the program, and he is a great fit for our staff and will represent Butler University with the highest level of professionalism.

"Being a St. Louis native, Jeff has extensive recruiting ties in the Midwest, and he was definitely the best person to continue raising our level of success."

Getz comes to Butler after spending the 2008 season as an assistant at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. There, he helped the RedHawks to a 21-12 overall record and an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Prior to his time at Miami, Getz spent six seasons at the University of Evansville working under head coach Mike Swan. As a recruiting and scouting assistant, he helped the Purple Aces increase their offensive totals from 12.49 kills per game in 2003 to just over 14 in 2006. He also helped the team improve from 13.26 digs per game in 2003 to 18.32 digs per game three years later

While with Evansville, Getz worked with 2006 and 2007 Missouri Valley Conference Libero of the Year, Julie Walroth, who ended her career with 2,095 digs, ranking 11th in NCAA history. In 2006, he also helped Evansville make its first MVC Tournament appearance since 2000.

"Jeff will do a great job for Sharon and the program," Swan said. "He will challenge the current players on the court with his very intense, competitive spirit. He is a skillful player, a knowledgeable, energetic recruiter and has a personality that makes working with him fun.

"I know he is really excited that Sharon has given him this opportunity to join her staff," Swan added. "Butler is extremely fortunate to get such a quality coach who knows Midwest volleyball very well."

Prior to Evansville, Getz spent one season at Morehead State where the Eagles finished in second place in the Ohio Valley Conference and ranked second in the nation in digs per game.

Getz was a contributing member for four years with Lewis volleyball. He helped lay the ground work for Lewis' 2003 national championship team, leading the Flyers to a 93-34 overall record during his tenure.

As a freshman at Lewis, Getz helped the Flyers reach the Final Four, finishing with a 25-9 record. As a senior, Lewis finished 24-6 overall, but lost in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association semifinals. Getz capped his four-year career by totaling 252 kills, 130 digs and a .290 hitting percentage as a senior.

Getz came to Lewis as one of the nation's most-decorated high school players out of Rosary High School in St. Louis, Missouri. A three-time all-state selection, Getz was tabbed a "Fab 50" selection by Volleyball Monthly as a senior, and he captured All-America honors from USA Volleyball in 1997.

An outstanding student as well, Getz graduated with a 3.6 GPA from Lewis and was a member of the Dean's List all four years. For his success, he received the Brother David Delanhanty Student Athlete Award. He was also named to the athletic honor roll all four years as well. Getz graduated from Lewis with a bachelor of arts in athletic training in 2002.


Dawn Jones
Assistant Coach

Dawn Jones begins her first season with the Butler volleyball program in 2009 as an assistant coach.

She brings with her coaching experience from the Division I and club levels, as well as a decorated high school and collegiate playing career.

Jones comes to Butler after spending the past two years as a sixth grade teacher at St. Anastasia Catholic School in Fort Pierce, Fla. During that time, she served as the club director and head coach for the 16U Rampage Juniors club team.

Prior to entering the teaching field, Jones served as a student assistant coach for her alma mater Delaware State during the 2006 season while also serving as head coach of the Central Delaware Volleyball Club. She earned her first coaching position in 2004 as the head coach of the Indian River Juniors Volleyball Club.

Despite playing just two seasons at Delaware State, the former Dawn Alford finished as the program's career record holder with 2,190 assists. As the Hornets' starting setter both years, she went on to tally the top-two single-season assist totals in school history, posting 1,122 in 2004 before notching 1,068 in 2005. Her 285 digs in 2004 also rank as the sixth-most all-time.

Jones' performance both on the court and in the classroom garnered her Academic All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Team honors in 2004 and 2005. She also served as the Delaware State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President, was a nominee for NCAA Academic Excellence and Service Award and was a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society.

Before moving to Delaware State, Jones spent two seasons at Indian River Community College, where she was tabbed to the all-conference freshman team in 2002 and all-conference second team in 2003. She was also named to the Phi Theta Kappa All-State Academic Team and was a nominee for the Phi Theta Kappa All-USA Academic Team.

Jones received her Bachelor's Degree in Middle School Education from Delaware State in 2007 after earning an Associate's Degree from Indian River.


Nina Inic
Assistant Coach

After concluding a four-year playing career with the Bulldogs last fall, Nina Inic moves to the administrative ranks as a first-year director of operations in 2009.

A native of Belgrade, Serbia, Inic totaled 1,102 digs as a member of the Bulldogs while recording four of the top single-match totals in program history - including a career-best 40 during the 2006 season that ranks as the third-most ever. She also excelled in the classroom, earning a spot on the Academic All-Horizon League Volleyball Team in two seasons.

Inic graduated from Butler in the spring of 2009 with a degree in finance.  


Steven Peek
Student Assistant

Steven Peek is in his second season as a student assistant with the Butler volleyball team, where he coordinates video editing and statistics for the Bulldogs.

In addition to his duties with the Bulldogs, Peek is the sports editor of Butler's Dawgnet and is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Phi Eta Sigma Honorary Freshman Academic Fraternity.

A 2007 Carmel (Ind.) High School graduate, Peek is majoring in history with minor in journalism.
